Frequently Asked Questions
If you have any further questions please get in touch
How long does therapy take?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions and the answer is that everyone is different.
Short-term therapy is primarily solution-focused and typically lasts between 6-12 sessions. Short term therapy is particularly helpful if you have a specific problem you would like to explore and work through.
Long-term therapy gives you more time to look into your past, helping you to understand yourself and your behaviours and how your past may affect you currently. It can be particularly helpful if you have more than one problem you would like to explore and work through.
In addition to short-term and long-term therapy, I also offer one-off sessions for anyone who wants to dedicate some time and space to ‘checking in’ with their mental and emotional wellbeing.

How often will I need to come?
During our first session we will discuss your reasons for coming to therapy and identify your goals and desired outcomes. Based on this, we will create a schedule to support you.
I recommend weekly sessions if possible or at least 2 sessions per month so that you can benefit fully from the process, but how often you want to attend is completely up to you.
How long do sessions last?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes long but I also offer extended sessions up to 2 hours.
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes! In addition to face-to-face sessions at my therapy office, I also offer telephone counselling and online counselling.

Will you tell me how to deal with ‘things’?
Therapy is a joint venture and not about me giving you advice. I work from the belief that you are the expert in your life and experiences, and you are the one that knows what hurts the most. I will commit to being alongside you until you feel ready to leave therapy.
